Life's Golden Treasures

The Order of the Eastern Star is the largest fraternal organization in the world to which both men and women may belong.

Eastern Star is a social order comprised of persons with spiritual values but it is not a religion.  Its appeal rests in the true beauty of the refreshing and character-building lessons that are so sincerely portrayed in its ritualistic work.  A deep fraternal bond exists between its members.  It is the wholesome relationship of sisterly and brotherly love brought about through high principles exemplified in our lives which makes us near and dear to each other.

While this is an Order composed of people of deep spiritual convictions, it is open to all faiths, except no faith.  The personal welfare of our members is vital to all of those in the Eastern Star and it is considered a privilege to help another member whenever we can.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hope each of you enjoyed a wonderful Christmas and happy New Year with family and friends. With the start of a brand new year now is the time to put on those dancing shoes as we twist and shout into another year of fun and exciting events. Each Line Grand Officer has been assigned several Districts to meet and greet our members. Schedules are posted on the website. General Grand Chapter was completed last November with several changes to the signs. The Line Grand Officers will share and practice the correct manner in which to perform them with you. This is part of the preparation as we glide into the Inspection season.

Our hope is that each Chapter is practicing the 3 Ps - Prepare, Practice and execute with Pride. It is vital for our Order to retain and impress candidates with excellent ritual work, for our ritual is what distinguishes us from other fraternal organizations. The lessons learned and stories portrayed furnish us with values to live by.

Many of our Districts have combined to sponsor a Heart Dance as we “Dance with the Stars” on February 13th the first of our Charity events for 2010. Please join in the fun as we dance the night away with all proceeds to benefit the American Heart Association.

Remember our 2010/2011 project “The Treasured Gift of Rehabilitation” for the Mt Vernon Home. Our goal is to fund the new rehabilitation center a segment of the new Glen A. Gallagher Community Center. Other projects include T-shirts to show our pride with proceeds funding all our projects, cancer bracelets and the continuation of clipping coupons for our service men and women. Check the website for additional information and forms.

Don’t forget our Resource Bureau. Their goal is to educate members about all aspects of our Grand Chapter and to encourage them to promote our Order in their communities.  Check the speakers tab.

Always remember while it is possible to dance alone, most of us would prefer having a partner. When we invite God to dance with us - He is the perfect dance partner

Make a fulfilling dance of your life – The beauty is that you can dance anywhere and all the time. For the steps you have learned make the dance possible. So join in the dance, dance with all your heart, help others to dance and dance while you can because nobody cares if you can’t dance well. Just get up and dance!
